Woman Suffering from Migraines Are More Inclined To Be Depressed

Patient suffering from chronic headache, specifically migraine, are more prone to suffer from depression disorder, feel weary, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a medical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical trial involved 1000 women who buy seroquel online at headache clinics in nine countries. Of the patients surveyed, 347 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 343 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the woman were tested with migraines.

The clinical study found woman with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more prone to report a high degree of symptoms related to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among people tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical investigation found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms will agitate or be a manifestation of major Psychotic Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax and Manic Depression may heighten pain perception,” said clinical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Careless of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can give rise to poorer result for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The medical research was countenanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American woman are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating patients care through instruction and clinical study. A neurologist is a surgeon specialized on diagnosing, treating and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
